carrots

Quentin has started eating a vegetable from a spoon every day. He's not up to three meals a day yet, but he's getting there. So far, carrots are the hands-down favorite. He actually gets excited about eating them. Peas and green beans aren't so good, but mix them with carrots and he loves it. We haven't started on fruit yet, but that'll be next. The sooner we can stop buying so much formula, the better...

Lilly's Narration Debute

Lilly was chosen as one of two 4th graders to serve as narrators for the 1st grade Christmas program. Of course she deserved the role with her dramatic demeanor and animated way of reading with just the right inflections. She read portions of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and Izzy, a 1st grader, sang in the choir all the songs. I videotaped the performance so didn't end up with any photos but the one below taken after the show. Izzy was on the top riser in the back so we couldn't see her very well during the performance, but you know she did a great job. She loves to put on a show! And, Lilly was perfect! She wore an elf hat with big ears and her new Christmas PJs. She narrated so well. We were all so proud of her!

Christmas in Stillwater

Christmas Day in Stillwater was a great time. Aunt Jane and Uncle Richard were there. We really missed the cousins, but understand why they couldn't make the journey this year. :) I didn't end up with a ton of photos. One of these days, I'll get better about memorializing the occasions better.

Quentin was SOOOO tired. He fell asleep to Aunt Jane's knee tapping. He kept floating in and out of sleep while we all tried to snap the perfect photo.

Grandad and Quentin are a pretty great pair.

Christmas Morning

Lilly woke up at 3:50 a.m. on Christmas morning and was prompty told to go back to bed. The rule was that she couldn't get up until 7a. So, she laid in our bed for a while until she kept me up so I sent her to her room. I think she watched movies until about 6a when I got up. I made her stay in her room while I made coffee, got the video camera out, etc. Around 6:30a we woke up Daddy about the same time Quentin woke up. Daddy had set up the Wii (from Santa) already so that it was playing when she walked in the living room. I had the video camera going so I didn't get a photo of her reaction. But, it was pretty good. She had a great Christmas all around!

And, she was off!

She stopped long enough for a quick photo and then it was back to see what was in her stocking.

I think Quentin enjoyed opening presents. He definitely liked the tissue paper.

I bought this "baby's first christmas" hat two years ago in the hopes we'd someday have a baby to put it on. He's just what we wanted.

Christmas at Nana and Pops

We all had a great time at Nana and Pops' house for Christmas this year on Christmas Eve day.

The cousins were in their PJs and ready to open presents.

This is where Quentin was when he rolled over the first time. On Mom's floor. With the whole Farr family around to watch.

Quentin sat with the cousins as Pops handed out the presents.

Quentin and Pops

Q loved all his new toys. So much, he wanted to eat them.

It's a slobbery baby in a giant stocking. He actually loved it.

Nana and Pops got Quentin a giant "rideable" panda that he had to try out. I think he liked it.

winterfest

last saturday, jenny and i took claire and lilly (izzy was sick) downtown to go ice skating and then see the christmas parade. the ice skating was pretty entertaining. we were expecting a more extravagant rink... it was pretty small and there were weird men standing around the sides making comments as we went by. otherwise, it was good. the girls enjoyed it. claire was a natural. lilly took a little more time to get in the hang of it, but she got it. jenny and i even gave it a try... for a little while. we didn't last very long. the idea of falling into the cold water (the rink was melting!) was enough to keep us from pushing our luck and going around the rink too many times. thankfully, we quit before we fell.
getting started, lilly wasn't too sure about ice skating...

but, she quickly got the hang of it.

they fell...

but they still had a great time!

sitting outside the BOK Center

it wasn't actually as cold as i look. it was just super windy!

jenny on ice. this was about the only time she smiled while on the rink...

claire at the parade with some horses coming down the street.

it was so windy, the pso 'louie the lightning bug' couldn't be up in the air. it took an army of volunteers to keep louie from flying away.

so thankful

i think i have the cutest kids ever.

on thanksgiving day this year, i spent the whole day cooking. we had mom's famous chicken casserole for dinner. it was just jackson, lilly, quentin and i. she made us all 'hats' - either pilgrims or indians. it was pretty fun. of course, the hats were constructed with staples so we had to be careful not to injure ourselves...

lilly was so proud of her decorations. she did a great job.

quentin loved getting dressed up.

lilly and quentin love their cousin molly.

the day after thanksgiving, jenny and i went to target. then, jackson and i took the kids to stillwater. it was so fun to introduce quentin to jackson's cousins and aunt and uncle. and, of course, he always loves spending time with grandma gerry and grandad. lilly spent most of her time hanging around with cousin molly. she had so much fun.

Pop's 60th birthday

it was pop's 60th birthday (nov. 17) so we all went to the creek. we checked out the renovations to the cabin - it's going to be SO nice! then, we all went to Phil's Country Fare in Westville, OK. not much in Westville, but Phils. notice the meat cabinet in the background of all these pictures. it's a restaurant and a butcher shop... i bought some bacon. we made it over the weekend - it was great! we didn't do a great job on the picture taking this day. oh well. i think my camera was dying. lilly took most of these...
